GMA Network Comes Up With A Special Meaningful Lenten Programming This Holy Week

GMA NETWORK HAS PREPARED a special Lenten programming schedule for today, Maundy Thursday (April 2), and tomorrow, Good Friday (April 3). Maundy Thursday opens with the strip of cartoon treats for the kids starting with “Time Quest” at 8am; followed by “Martin Mystery” at 8:30am; “Fairy Tail” at 9am; “Knockout” at 9:30am; and “Pokemon: Pikachu’s Winter Vacation” at 10am. The Kapuso Network treats its loyal viewers to a documentary on Pope Francis’ apostolic visit to the Philippines titled “Mabuhay Lolo Kiko! Pagsulyap sa Pagbisita ng Santo Papa” at 11:00am, followed by “Barbie: A Mermaid Tale” at 12:00nn and “Casper” at 1:30pm.

Coming in shortly is a back-to-back drama special from “Wish Ko Lang”: “INAko ni Lilia,” a heartrending story of a woman who selflessly reared and cared for children not her own, and “Nagkalayo… Nagkatagpo,” a touching story of two sisters who were reunited after years of separation at 3PM. The internationally-acclaimed film “Bamboo Flowers,” directed by Maryo J. Delos Reyes, comes next at 4:00pm.

At 5:30pm, witness CBN Asia’s “Tanikala: Sa Isang Iglap,” which headlines Glaiza de Castro and Krystal Reyes, to be followed by the 1956 American religious epic film “The Ten Commandments” at 7:00pm. The said movie will air with no commercial breaks.

Cap the night off with two “I Witness” documentaries set to air at 11:00PM. First off is Kara David’s “Dorm 12,” which sheds light on the lives of the infirmed and aged inmates at the maximum security prison. Howie Severino’s “Dog Star,” a feature on renowned dog trainer Sergio Redolosa, comes next.
For tomorrow, Good Friday, kids get another serving of their favorite cartoons in the morning beginning with “Time Quest” at 8am; followed by “Martin Mystery” at 8:30am; “Fairy Tail” at 9am; “Knockout” at 9:30am; and “Dragon Ball Z: Revival Fusion” at 10am.

The internationally-acclaimed religious program “Power To Unite” airs at 11:00am with a special episode featuring Pope Francis’ visit to the Philippines and his mission to spread God’s mercy and compassion to Filipinos hosted by Ms. Elvira Yap-Go with special guest Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales.

Recall Jesus Christ's seven last words on the cross via “Siete Palabras” broadcast live from the Sto. Domingo Church at 12nn. At 3:00pm, witness a love that defies death and marvel at a family that was granted a second chance in restoring their relationship in the "Wish Ko Lang" episodes “Jimmy and Gina’s Love Story” and “Himala,” respectively.

Relive Pope Francis’ historic visit in the country with GMA News and Public Affairs’ “Blessed by the Pope,” a one and a half hour special presented by Jessica Soho at 4pm. CBN Asia’s “Tanikala” features an unusual love story in “My Sister, My Lover,” which topbills Sheena Halili and Jan Manual, at 5:30pm.
Come 7:00pm “Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho” retells the stories of Kakanin Chief MMDA Enforcer Fernando Gonzales and Pisay Wonder Kid Robert John Pecayo, who both strive to overcome life’s challenges for their respective families. “Kalakal Boys: The Cedric Macdon and Joven Santos Story” starring Ruru Madrid and Miguel Tanfelix is next in “Magpakailanman” at 7:30pm, to be followed by “Mga Mumunting Lihim” at 9:00 pm, a film that proves that some secrets can never be taken to the grave.

Emmy Award nominee “Six Hours,” a powerful documentary produced by Big Monster Entertainment that retells the story of typhoon Yolanda’s shocking devastation primarily through the eyes and cameras of GMA anchor and senior reporter Jiggy Manicad and his news coverage team, airs at 11:00pm.
