Missing Simon Cowell as judge in American Idol 10

WE’VE BEEN watching the new season of “American Idol” and the problem with the 10th season is simply the fact that we miss the acerbic wit of Simon Cowell. Admit it or not, the first few years of the show worked because of the great chemistry in the slambang teamup of Simon with Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. When Paula left and Ellen Degeneres and Karla Dioguardi came, the show was just never the same again and the ratings suffered. The latest replacements of Paula and Simon, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, really pale so much in comparison. J Lo may be sexy and alluring, but both she and Steven are just too nice as judges. That’s why we miss Simon all the more since he knows how to call a spade a spade. But even the past winners have been lackluster, just like Kris Allen and Lee Dewyce. Runners up like Adam Lambert and David Archuleta became even more successful than them. We just hope the new season will still be able to attract viewers. In the Philippines, no doubt the inclusion of Thia Megia will make us want to watch it, until such time that she’s eliminated.
