CINDY MIRANDA NOW SHUNS SEXY ROLES & GOES WHOLESOME IN AMUSING ROMCOM WITH JM DE GUZMAN, 'ADIK SA'YO'

FORMER Bb. Pilipinas Tourism Cindy Miranda went sexy in many Vivamax skin flicks like “Nerisa”, “My Husband, My Lover” and “Reroute”, and the series “Iskandalo”.

She stopped disrobing last year and did supporting roles in films like “Spellbound” and “Martyr or Murderer” where she was not required to take her clothes off.

Now, she is delighted to be given the chance to do hosting, like in the Summer Filmfest Awards Night and in Bingo Plus. She’s also in a wholesome romantic-comedy, “Adik Sa’Yo”, where she gets paired with JM de Guzman for the first time.

“I was so happy when I saw the full trailer of ‘Adik Sa’Yo’ kasi I felt na nagawa ko to reinvent my career,” she says. “Yun naman talaga ang plano ko.

"Makilala muna ako ng viewers via the sexy movies I did, then unti-unti, transition into doing more wholesome, mainstream projects.”

Does she regret going sexy?

“No, wala po akong pinagsisisihan kasi ginusto ko naman yun. Part yung ng preparation ko, ng journey ko para makilala bilang isang aktres.

"Malaki rin ang naitulong nung mga roles ko in the movies I did for me to refine my craft.”

She feels what she’s been through is part of her paying her dues in the showbiz industry.

“Talagang pinaghirapan ko ito and the Lord knows what I’ve been through. So sobrang thankful ako kay Lord kahit, kung minsan, naiinip na ako and I ask Him, Bakit nandito pa rin ako hanggang ngayon?

"So now, heto, time to move forward, tama yung timing and I’m sure viewers will enjoy watching ‘Adik Sa’Yo’ kasi the story is really involving.”

She is glad that Viva continues to trust in her talent and willing to give her a break doing a starring role in a non-sexy movie.

“Salamat talaga sa Viva sa pagtitiwala nila sa akin. I’m happy to be given the chance to work with JM de Guzman in ‘Adik Sa’Yo’, with Mel del Rosario as our writer and Direk Nuel Naval as our director.

"I learned so much from working with them and that’s the most important thing for an actress like me. Gaining more experience to help me improve my craft.

"Romantic comedy ito pero tanggap ko pong hindi ako born comedian at mahirap talaga magpatawa.

"Basta sabi naman ni direk, hindi dapat masyadong mag-effort. Dapat, natural lang para mas lumabas na nakakatawa.”

In “Adik Sa’Yo”, she plays JM’s long time best friend. She is very much in love with him but he doesn’t reciprocate her affection because he is more in love with drugs.

“Yes, adik ako kay JM dito, pero siya naman, adik sa drugs,” Cindy adds. “Maganda ang pagkaka-develop sa story and I am sure maraming makaka-relate sa mga sitwasyong inilalarawan namin dito.”

How is it working with JM? Didn’t his previous addiction bother her at all?

“No. I never thought of anything negative about JM. Wala akong pakialam about his past and I don’t judge people.

"I was actually excited when Viva told me I’d be paired with him kasi alam kong magaling siyang actor and I know I will learn a lot from working with him.”

How is it working with Direk Nuel Naval?

“First time ko with him at napakagaling niya. He’s strict but I like it kasi very clear siya in giving instructions at malinaw talaga kung ano ang gusto niyang ipagawa sa’yo.

"Pareho rin kaming mahilig sa plants and dogs kaya nagkasundo kami talaga.”

Cindy and JM are supported by Meg Imperial, Candy Pangilinan and Andrew Muhlach.

“Adik Sa’Yo” will open in theaters nationwide on April 19, right after the Summer Metro-Manila Filmfest.
