LET'S WELCOME TEENAGE SINGER-SONGWRITER ROB DENIEL OF HITS 'ULAP' & 'GABI' WHO IS A POTENTIAL HEARTTHROB

ROB DENIEL is a 19-year old singer-songwriter who hit it big in social media with his songs “Ulap”, “Gabi”, “Baby I Tried”, “Ang Rosas” and “Darling”.

His full name is Rob Deniel Barrinuevo and he was born in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on October 6, 2003. He’s currently taking up multi-media arts at Malaya Colleges in Laguna.

The eldest of two kids, he was 12 when his father gave him a guitar and he’s been making his own music since then.

He describes his kind of music as “retropop with rock overtones” and he is influenced by the seasoned artists of Manila Sound introduced to him by his dad.

His first song “Ulap”, written when he was 17 while he’s bored in his own room, got six million hits on youtube and was no. 1 on Spotify.

“The melody, the lyrics, the emotions just flowed naturally while I was strumming my guitar,” he says.

He arranged and produced the song himself using just the Garage Band app on his cellphone, playing every instrument. Thanks to streaming, “Ulap” made it in the global charts of other countries like Singapore, Portugal and even Russia.

“Ulap” was used in the show “Parang Tayo Pero Hindi” starring Marco Gumabao and Kylie Versoza. His newest song, “Gabi”, is now a monster hit on Tiktok.

He has had one serious relationship in high school. His friends were surprised when he became a singer.

“Nagulat sila kasi mahilig ako sa basketball at mas kilala nila ako as astig na player. Tapos napunta ako sa pagkanta and they didn’t even know they were listening na pala to my song.”

Now that he’s a Viva artist, he records his song no longer by himself but in a studio with proper equipment.

He dreams of being able to release a full album this year.

“Mahiyain ako so ang emotions na nararamdaman ko, nae-express ko lang sa songs na ginagawa ko,” he adds.

Will he go into acting?

“Pag okay na ako sa music ko, I might try acting kasi parang masaya siya. I want to be like yung lumang artists who also went into acting, like Rico J. Puno.”
