'Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real' Director Andoy Ranay Reveals Acting Secrets Of His Actors

MARICEL SORIANO is the type of actress who identifies with the role she portrays so much. This is what “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real” director Andoy Ranay reveals to us. “After an emotional scene, ang tagal before she can shake it off,” he says. In one scene, niyakap na siya ni Dingdong Dantes after the take to calm her down. Iba-iba kasi ang mga artista. Si Alessandra de Rossi, parang may switch. On and off. But I’m so glad lahat ng mga artista namin sa ‘Dalawang Mrs. Real’, puro magagaling, very professional and serious with their craft, kasi it makes our work much easier. Lovi has improved so much since I worked with her in ‘Legacy’ Basta I tell them to be organic with their reactions and don’t fake anything.”

They’re all happy that the show is rating so high. “It means all our efforts are paying off. Even the senior stars, sina Coney Reyes, Robert Arevalo, Tommy Abuel, Celeste Legaspi, lahat na sila, including the younger ones like Rodjun Cruz, Marco Alcaraz and Diva Montelaba, they all deliver.”

Among the characters, which one does he identify with? “Siempre si Lovi, kasi pareho kaming bata at sariwa,” he laughs. But actually, the most sympathetic character here is Dingdong’s Anthony. But you can see sa reaction ng viewers sa social media how involved they are with the characters. May kanya-kanyang kampo. Malayo pa itatakbo ng kuwento kasi we’re given 16 weeks. Pupuntahan niya si Maricel and we’ll find out kung ire-reveal niya rito ang tungkol kay Lovi in Cebu.”

Andoy (real name: Randolph) is one of the busiest directors today. He took up drama in UP and started as a production assistant at ABS-CBN. He worked his way up to being an assistant then full pledged director. It was when he moved to GMA-7 that he got to direct primetime hits like “I Heart You, Pare”, “Legacy”, “One True Love”, then got to do full lengths films like “Sosy Problems” and, for Viva, “When the Love Is Gone” and “Diary ng Panget”. He has now just finished “Trophy Wife” with Derek Ramsay and Cristine Reyes, and is also shooting “Talk Balk & You’re Dead” with the Panget cast headed by James Reid.
