Mikael Daez Finally Talks About His Relationship With Miss World Megan Young

MIKAEL DAEZ feels lucky that his morning soap, “With a Smile”, just ended and here he is now cast right away in a new primetime drama, “Adarna”, with Kylie Padilla and Benjamin Alves. “Suwerte talaga kasi patapos na ang taon, nagkaroon pa ako ng isang bagong show”, he says. “Tapos, kasama pa rin ako sa ‘Bubble Gang’, ‘Saksi’ doing the ‘Midnight Snack’ segment, and ‘Unang Hirit’. At least, tuloy-tuloy ang trabaho ko. ‘Midnight Snack’ was just an experiment. Dapat one month lang siya, pero ang ganda ng reception so na-extend nang na-extend and we’re now on our third month. Ang dami ko nang kainang napuntahan sa iba’t ibang lugar to feature in it, the best ang Batangas bulalo so far for me. Ang tawag na sa’kin ng mga tao when they see me in public is Mr. Midnight Snack.”

He is now managed by Betchay Vidanes, who’s also managing Kylie Padilla and Jasmine Curtis Smith. “Hindi naman ako humiwalay sa dating manager ko, Jonas Gaffud of Mercator, sila pa rin ang booking agent ko for modelling and hosting jobs. Kaya lang, I felt na mas may strength si Jonas in developing beauty queens, which takes more of his time, kaya naisip ko to get another manager. I asked for suggestions and someone arranged a meeting with Tita Betchay. Maganda agad ang gut feeling ko with her, magaan ang pakiramdam ko, so I chose her to manage me.”

Jonas was the one who built up Megan Young to be the Miss World titlist that she is now. What’s the real status between them? “We’re good friends. Sabi nga ng mom niya, we’re barkada. I visited her in Indonesia while I was on my way to Singapore. Dinalhan ko siya ng dried mangoes which she requested. I was sure she’d win and she did. But she’d be staying in London and they’ll be away from each other for one year. “Okay lang yun. I didn’t even get to meet her the one week that she was here. Okay lang yung one year siya sa London. Basta go lang ng go.”
