TV5 To Introduce Several New Shows In Mid-September, With Ogie Alcasid Starring In Three Shows

TV5 IS ALL set to introduce all their new shows for the last quarter of the year, more than ten of them, come mid-September. Ogie Alcasid, their newest acquisition, will be in three new shows no less: a musical variety program with Sharon Cuneta, “The Mega and the Songwriter” to be shown on Sundays, the primetime gag show “TropaMoKo” that will replace “Lokomoko U”, and a drama series, “The Gift”, that is a co-production with Mr. Tony Tuviera’s company.

“TropaMoKo” is obviously derived from Ogie’s gag show then on TV5, “Tropang Trumpo”, which he did with Gelli de Belen before he moved to GMA-7 to do “Bubble Gang”. So Gelli will also be included in the new show and they’ll absorb the regular stars of “Lokomoko” like Edgar Allan Guzman, Alwyn Uytingco, Eula Caballero, Empoy, Valeen Montenegro and Tuesday Vargas. To beef up the cast, joining the show are TV5 Princesses Ritz Azul, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Arci Munoz and the new discoveries of TV5 from their talent search, “Artista Academy”.

Other new shows to be introduced are “Madame Chairman” starring Sharon Cuneta in a dramedy directed by Joel Lamangan, the showbiz talk show “Showbiz Police” with Cristy Fermin, Lucy Torres, Joey Reyes and Raymond Gutierrez; the new movies made exclusively for television bannered by “When I Fall in Love” starring Nora Aunor and Tirso Cruz III; a new late night talk show to be hosted by Edu Manzano, and the newly revived versions of “Wow Mali” hosted by Joey de Leon, “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” with Vic Sotto and “Pinoy Explorer” with Aga Muhlach. TV5’s new prexy, Noel Lorenzana, will have a special meeting with the press to introduce their new shows, along with head of entertainment content Wilma Galvante who used to be with GMA-7. We heard they no longer want to be called the Kapatid network and are now looking for a new more apt monicker.
