Pres. Pinoy's Long & Rambling SONA Speech Turns Into A Fashion Parade

PRES. PINOY’S SONA speech is long and rambling. We agree with what he says that the country has really taken a turn for the better under his term, but we wish he studied his speech first before delivering it. He was rushing his words and made several fumbles in pronouncing Tagalog words correctly. It’s very obvious he’s just reading it.

The affair is an occasion to be seen, what with many showbiz denizens in it dressed in elegant ternos and barongs that make it look like an awards night or a fashion parade. Presidential sister Kris Aquino stands out sporting a new hairdo in a fuschia gown designed by Cary Santiago. Also present were Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres Gomez, in a splendid blue gown by Randy Ortiz who also did the gown of Sen. Nancy Binay and Tootsie Angara, the pretty wife of Sen. Sonny Angara. Sen. Grace Poe came in a Rajo Laurel creation. Sen. Loren Legarda wore a gown of hand-woven fabrics made by indigenous people like T’boli and Bagobo. Sen. Cynthia Villar was in a gown by Noli Hans. Heart Evangelista, girlfriend of Sen. Chiz Escudero, came in a creation Ivar Aseron.

Bacoor, Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado and congressional wives Dawn Zulueta and Assunta de Rossi (dazzling in a canary yellow gown) were also there, along with Jinkee Pacquiao, vice governor of Sarangani, who came in a gown by Pepsi Herrera.

Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos was there to support husband Sen. Ralph Recto, looking the true Star for All Seasons in a chic gown by her resident designer, Danilo Franco. Among the men, newly elected QC Rep. Alfred Vargas is a standout resplendent in his dashing Barong Tagalog.
