Joel Lamangan Doing A Movie On Gay Npa'S Written By Ricky Lee Starring Patrick Garcia & Baron Geisler

JOEL LAMANGAN is surely our busiest director today. His latest mainstream movie, “The Mommy Returns” starring Ruffa Gutierrez, Pokwang and Gabby Concepcion, opens on Wednesday. The indie films he did last year, “Patikul” and “Deadline”, have already won awards and got more nominations in coming award-giving rites. He has just finished directing a new film on OFW’s shot in Israel, “Migrante”. We’ve seen its trailer and Jodi Sta. Maria is pretty impressive as a caregiver in Tel Aviv who becomes a wanted fugitive after she fights her abusive boss who wants to rape her.

The soap Joel is directing for TV5, “Valiente”, will end this month, but he has already prepared for the shoot of three new films. “Ayaw nababakante,” says Dennis Evangelista, the line producer of his indie films. “Una niyang gagawin is ‘Lihis’ about gay NPA’s scripted by Ricky Lee, starring Baron Geisler and Patrick Garcia. Then he’ll do a remake of Ishmael Bernal’s ‘Menor de Edad’ for its original producer, Jesse Ejercito. We’re now casting it. Last is a film about labor unrest, ‘Obrero’, with Allen Dizon in a bida-kontrabida role.”

Dennis manages Allen and he’s glad that after “Nasaan Ka Elisa”, ABS-CBN got Allen again to play the role of Prachit, a royal servant of Yangdon king Albert Martinez who connives with Gretchen Barreto to separate Albert from daughter Kathryn Bernardo.
