Winnie Monsod examines brain drain

TONIGHT ON GMA NEWS TV Channel 11, Winnie Monsod tackles the issue of brain drain in the Philippines and the resulting lack of doctors in the barrios in “Bawal ang Pasaway kay Mareng Winnie”. Her guests are UP graduate and former Department of Health secretary Jaime Galvez Tan and "Doctor to the Barrios" recruit, Dr. Henry Plaza. Tan and Plaza chose to stay at home to serve fellow Filipinos in remote villages without medical care. UP College of Medicine Dean Alberto Roxas and former Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila President Adel Tamano also discuss possible measures to encourage doctors to stay in the country. While PLM's "pay back" program was scrapped years ago, the UP College of Medicine is set to require students to sign a contract to render community service after graduation before going abroad. Find more about this tonight at “Bawal ang Pasaway Kay Mareng Winnie” at 9 PM.
