Marc Abaya joins I Heart U Pare

IT WAS DIRECTOR Andoy Ranay who asked Marc Abaya to join the cast of “I Heart U Pare” on GMA-7. “I started with ABS in ‘Ligaw na Bulaklak’, which was directed by Direk Andoy, and ‘Magkaribal’, but I have no contract with them so I can work anywhere,” says Marc who is Marcelino in real life and looks like a young Johnny Delgado, his ninong. “When Direk Andoy asked me if I could join him in ‘Pare’, I welcomed the chance of working with Regine Velasquez at ang ganda ng role ko as Joel, her secret admirer in Vigan. It’s so inspiring to work with her kasi in spite of her status, she’s so humble and generous. I also welcome working with Dingdong Dantes na classmate ko noon sa Ateneo grade school and with Sir Tirso Cruz III na ang galing kaeksena. My role here as Ms. Regine’s secret admirer shows a much lighter side of me compared sa bad boy characters ko in the shows I did with ABS.

Also a singer, he’s the vocalist of the band Kjwan. Now that he’s very much into acting, does that mean he’ll lie low in music? “Not really. I’m with ‘Party Pilipinas’ din and also, our band is recording a new album. Marami namang napagsasabay ang acting and singing, like Ms. Regine and her husband Sir Ogie.”

Marc asks prayers for his mom, Director Marilou Diaz Abaya, who’s film “Ikaw ang Pag-ibig” is about to be shown and who’s still waging a fight against the big C after she had breast cancer. Let’s all pray for her full recovery.
