Young stars in First Time

BARBIE FORTEZA gained fame as the young Jodi in "Stairway to Heaven". Her love team with Joshua Dionisio clicked and they were paired anew in "Dear Friend" that rated very well. So now they topbill their own primetime soap, "First Time", replacing "Ikaw Sana" at the 6PM slot. She was so effective as Jodi but do you know that it's just her first acting job?

"I did several TV commercials," she says. "I auditioned before for 'Marimar' but di ako nakuha. Sa 'Darna', I also auditioned pero nakuha lang ako as an extra, so I didn't expect I'd bag the Jodi role in 'Stairway'. It opened doors for me kasi nakuha rin akong anak ni Vic Sotto sa movie, 'Darling Kong Aswang'. Now, heto, bida na kami ni Joshua sa isang primetime show. Nakuha yung acting workshop I took with GMA Artist Center."

She studies in St. Michael's Binan, Laguna and she wants to thank her teachers for being supportive. "They understand pag may taping ako and I'm sometimes absent. But if I'm not working, lagi akong present."

"First Time" is about the joys and pains of falling in love for the first time. Barbie plays Cyndy, a shy high school student torn between Lucas (Joshua), a handsome campus heartthrob, and Baste (Jhake Vargas), her best friend who's a street-smart guy secretly in love with her.. Directed by Andoy Ranay, "First Time" also stars Manilyn Reynes, Jomari Yllana, Ian Veneracion, Michelle Madrigal, Roxanne Barcelo, Bayani Agbayani, Romnick Sarmenta, Mel Kimura, Bea Benene, Joana Marie Tan, Ricci Chan and Joross Gamboa.
