Global Thought Leader Professor Mohanbir Sawhney enlightens business leaders on AIs potential for growth and innovation

Professor Mohanbir Sawhney, the Associate Dean for Digital Innovation at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, gave an informative talk to business leaders and provided profound insights into harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) during the seminar-workshop, “Artificial Intelligence for Business Leaders: Driving Growth, Innovation, and Efficiency.”

The workshop, co-presented by GMA Network, John Clements Consultants, Inc. (JCCI), and the Northwestern University/Kellogg School of Management Alumni Association of the Philippines, concluded with resounding success, leaving attendees equipped with valuable knowledge to navigate the AI-driven landscape.

Throughout the one-day workshop, Professor Sawhney showcased his expertise in business innovation, digital marketing, product strategy, and AI application in business. He illuminated the vast potential of AI to drive innovation, operational efficiency, and enhanced customer experiences across various industries.

“I absolutely believe that some of the most promising cases for generative AI will be where humans and morals and machines work together to create superior outcomes because fundamentally, human beings have different skills than algorithms. Algorithms crunch lots of data; they are able to look at and see patterns from data very quickly.

"But human beings have creativity, empathy, judgment, morals, and ethics, and they are able to make mission-critical decisions. Human beings should always make life-and-death decisions. So, I think by putting a human loop with an AI model, we can achieve superior outcomes,” said Prof. Sawhney in an interview with GMA Integrated News.

Professor Sawhney’s profound observations on the responsible use of AI and the collaboration between humans and machines inspired and motivated business leaders from various industries to embrace AI’s potential as a transformative force for their businesses.

The success of the seminar-workshop is attributed to the joint efforts of GMA Network, Inc. and John Clements Consultants, Inc.  Both organizations happen to share the same mission of staying at the forefront of digital transformation and providing their respective customers and stakeholders with valuable knowledge on cutting-edge technologies like AI.

“We at GMA Network are committed to providing genuine service to our Kapuso audience. This event is intended to help us better understand the current trending topic like AI and its significance in our lives,” said GMA First Vice President and Head of International Operations Joseph T. Francia.

“Carol Dominguez, President and CEO of John Clements Consultants, Inc., and I are grateful to Prof. Sawhney for accepting our invitation to come to Manila. As event partners, we are very proud and thankful for being able to organize this important and timely learning session together.”

Carol Dominguez also expressed, “I feel like AI and technology helped our company thrive and survive even during and after the pandemic. I want to inspire more companies to really focus on technology and AI in order to build their businesses for the future. GMA plays a very important role in spreading this very important focus for all of us to prosper.”

GMA’s First Vice President for Human Resources Development Gerrome Y. Apolona added “AI paints a future marked with both anxiety and opportunity for business organizations.

"With strong collaboration among operating units and full management support, the opportunities for growth in many facets of the business operations can be boundless.  Nonetheless, human intelligence is primordial, and we can only fully partake of AI’s beneficence if our natural intelligence is resolutely nurtured to the fullest potential.”

Mon Sarmiento, Chief Technology Officer of GMA New Media Inc, shared that he was able to get "a lot of key learnings on the future of AI, particularly on how it will affect our daily tasks and our way of life."

The successful workshop has fortified GMA Network’s position as a thought leader in the media and entertainment industry, driving its mission to deliver truthful and innovative content while empowering business leaders with the knowledge to embrace AI’s transformative potential.
