NADINE LUSTRE TOPBILLS 'DELETER', VIVAMAX TECHNO-HORROR FLICK WRITTEN & DIRECTED BY MIKHAIL RED

NADINE LUSTRE stars in a new Vivamax movie, “Deleter”, and Viva hosted a face to face presscon to introduce the film that also stars Louise de los Reyes and McCoy de Leon, written and directed by Mikhail Red.

Red describes his film as a techno-horror thriller that young techie millennials who are into gadgets will surely be able to relate with easily.

The story is set in a shadowy online content moderation office, where workers are tasked with the process of filtering graphic uploads before they reach social media platforms.

Nadine plays Lyra, a seemingly cold and unattached person who looks perfect for the job of content moderator as she doesn’t seem to be affected by the disturbing imagery of the videos that she screens everyday.

Nadine as Lyra may seem to be so calm and collected, but what people don’t know is that she experienced a very traumatic experience when she was young when she saw her mom being murdered by her own father.

She tries to erase this from her memory but it makes her secretive and she avoids other people.

Complications occur when a co-worker kills herself after watching a disconcerting video sent to her for screening.

Lyra feels guilty that she didn’t get to prevent her friend’s death so she becomes depressed and turns to drugs to comfort her. She is then haunted by the choices she makes.

Nadine says she liked the project when it was pitched to her.

“This is my first psychological horror film and I really look forward to doing films na nakaka-challenge sa akin as an actress,” she says. “It’s also my first time to work with a young and talented director like Direk Mikhail.

"I don’t like horror films na puro jump scares lang at gugulatin ka. Mas nae-enjoy ko kapag malalim yung kuwento, na after a few days, pinag-iisip ka pa rin, like this one na at first, hindi mo alam, if what’s happening is all in the mind of my character, Lyra, or nangyayari ba talaga.”

What are her favorite horror flicks?

“I like yung ‘It Follows’, about a woman pursued by an entity. Ilang araw na ang nakaraan after watching it, lumilingon pa rin ako to see kung may sumusunod din sa akin.

"I also like ‘The Conjuring’, may scene kasi na nagbukas yung pinto ng wardrobe then may pumalakpak. Naglilinis ako, bigla ring bumukas mag-isa ang pinto ng cabinet ko so I got scared. But I really love watching horror films, siguro kasi I was born on Halloween, October 31st.”

Off cam, it’s an open book that Nadine is now in a relationship with a Filipino-French businessman, Christopher Barriou, who’s been living in Siargao for eight years now.

She was on with former ka-love team James Reid for four years before they broke up in 2020.
