WHAT IS 'BUBBLE GANG'S SECRET IN BEING THE COUNTRY'S LONGEST RUNNING GAG SHOW AS THEY CELEBRATE THEIR 25TH ANNIVERSARY

‘BUBBLE GANG’ is celebrating its silver or 25th anniversary this Friday and GMA hosted a special presscon for its cast. Michael V is asked what is the secret of the show to last this long?

“Wala naman talagang sikreto,” he says. “There’s no concrete formula. Basta sinusundan lang namin yung technique sa jokes na set-up muna, then punchline, equals funny.

" Also, malaking factor yung nakikita ng viewers na kami mismo ng mga kasama ko, enjoy kami sa bawat joke na ginagawa namin. Talagang kina-career namin bawat episode ng ‘Bubble Gang’. Kasi, kapag enjoy ka sa ginagawa mo, nakakahawa yun,e.

"Before kasi, we’re just working and working, pinapahirapan namin ang aming sarili. We forgot to have fun with it. So it was a learning experience for us. Dapat, you should not only give fun to the viewers, you should also have fun yourselves. Importante yun.”

For their 25th anniversary presentation, they want to give thanks to all the stars who became part of their show. “Malaki ang naitulong nila sa naging success ng show,” adds Bitoy. “And also, to our loyal ka-Bubble viewers who stuck with us every Friday night for 25 years.”

Because of the pandemic, Bitoy and his co-stars have been working in a work-from-home set up.

“Matagal na kaming hindi nagkakasama-samang lahat sa studio but hopefully, with the restrictions being relaxed, darating ang time na we’ll all be united again with the cast and crew. As of now, marami na ring nagsu-shoot sa studio.

"But we learned so much from working at home. It was a challenge na kami na rin ang cameraman, production designer, make up artist, lightman, wardrobe consultant at director ng sarili naming skits.

"That’s a big plus and hindi mo na maaalis yang experience na yan sa amin. We have exhausted na nga all the means to maximize the working at home set up, e.”

Since they’re inviting former ka-Bubble stars to join them in their anniversary show, did they ask Ogie Alcasid, who was with them for a long time before he moved to another channel, to be with them?

“We tried. There was an attempt. We did our best.  Sinubukan namin. We had big plans but we have to changed it and just adjust to our situation. Along the way, nagkaroon ng bagong variant at hindi namin nagawa what we envisioned.

"Now, kung gusto nyo malaman kung sino yung mga na-invite namin sa special anniversary, abangan nyo na lang para surprise.

"This is the best we can come up with, celebrating not just the anniversary but also the people who help brought us here. We’re really very grateful na umabot kami sa aming 25th year.”

The “Bubble Gang” regulars who joined the presscon with Bitoy are Betong Sumaya, Mikoy Morales, Lovely Abella, Chariz Solomon (who just gave birth), Arra San Agustin (who’s also in “Lolong”), Arny Ross (who just got married), Annalyn Barro (who’s also in “First Lady”), Denise Barbacena (who’s also in “Pepito Manaloto”) and Ashley Rivera (who’s in the new John Lloyd Cruz sitcom on GMA.)

All of them praised Bitoy as their mentor and thanked “Bubble Gang” for helping them gain fame and maintain their showbiz careers.
