OUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE ABOUT HAVING CRISIS IN LIFE AND THE BEST WAY TO COPE WITH IT

WE JUST FINISHED watching a highly acclaimed Danish film about mid-life crisis that’s currently nominated in the Oscars.

We realized we cannot relate with its characters because we never experienced such a thing.

As a matter of fact, we never experienced any kind of personal or psychological crisis throughout our 75 years on this earth. We were just busy with the business of everyday living we didn’t have any time to ponder on any serious existential issues.

But more than anything else, it’s because we have always been comforted by our total trust in the Lord.

In 1972, when we lost our job at ABC Channel 5 due to martial law, we never doubted we’d quickly find another job. And we did.

All through our stay here on earth, we know He is always there to help us and prevent us from making grave mistakes in the decisions we make.

When we decided to marry our late wife Victoria in 1976, we felt the Lord guided us and He did, in the entire 31 years that we were together.

When we decided to leave our regular job later and go full time into writing, He supported us wholeheartedly and gave us so many columns to write in various newspapers and magazines. Writing in the print media then was so lucrative.

We’ve seen many other films where characters are going through various kinds of crisis (“Sideways”, “Lost in Translation”, “Hope Springs”, “A Reason to Live” etc.),  not just mid-life crisis, and it became obvious to us that the root cause is their lack of complete FAITH IN OUR CREATOR.

We would call our life charmed simply because we have always leaned on HIM, acknowledged that EVERYTHING IS A BLESSING from HIM, and HE has never forsaken us.

And this Lenten Season, it’s a personal message we want to impart. JUST BELIEVE, no matter what.
