MAJA SALVADOR is back on screen after her last hit series, “Wildflower”. This time, she’s now on primetime playing the title role of “The Killer Bride”, a Gothic suspense-thriller set in a mythical town called Las Espadas. “The name of my character is Camilla de la Torre,” says Maja. “I’m a happy person but my life becomes complicated when I fall in love with Geoff Eigenmann as Vito, who belongs to the rival clan of our family, the de la Cuestas.”

Because of their forbidden love, she is accused of a crime she didn’t commit and gets imprisoned. While in jail, she dies in a fire but before she dies, she makes a vow: “Isinusumpa ko, babalikan ko kayong lahat at ipapakita ko sa inyo kung anong klaseng demonyo ang itinapon ninyo sa impierno!” After she died, the town is gripped by a horror story about the curse of the killer bride roaming around their town at night, thirsty for vengeance.

Maja’s last show, “Wildflower”, was a big hit that got extended several times and ran for one year, from February 2017 to February 2018. After that, Maja took a time out and did a lot of traveling with her boyfriend, Rambo Nunez. How different is “Killer Bride” from “Wildflower”?

“Mas wild ang ‘Killer Bride’. Mas maraming pagdaraanan si Camila dito kaysa kay Lily sa ‘WIldflower’. I was on vacation when they pitched me this new project by video call. Nagustuhan ko agad and pagbalik ko rito from abroad, nag-look test na kami. ‘Wildflower’ is so good it’s a tough act to follow, pero itong ‘Killer Bride’, it’s so big in scope at pati sa casting kaya perfect follow up. Na-miss ko rin namang umarte kasi more than a year na rin akong bakante. So tamang-tama naman, dumating ito, at magtrabaho na raw uli ako. Tama nang bakasyon.”

Some folks say it’s similar to GMA-7’s new show, “Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko”, also a horror-thriller. “Ay hindi. Kaibigan ko si Rayver Cruz, yung leading man nila, at tinanong ko siya, and we both agreed na magkaiba sila. 1,000 percent na magkaibang-magkaiba.”

Since she is a bride here, will she also be a bride soon in real life since she seems so happy with Rambo? “Ay hindi po. No plans. Work muna para makaipon and later, makapag-travel uli. Kaya namang pagsabayin ang love life at career, e. It’s all up to you kung paano mo babalansehin.”

Also in the huge cast of “Killer Bride” are Eddie Gutierrez as Maja’s grandpa, Aurora Sevilla (who makes a comeback after 22 years) as her grandma Donya Guada who is so mean to her, Jobelle Salvador as the matriarch of the de la Cuesta clan and mother of Geoff Eigenmann, Dominic Ochoa as Geoff’s brother, Loren Burgos as the woman Geoff marries after Maja died, James Blanco and Lara Quigaman as the parents of Sam Concepcion who plays a young politician, and Malou de Guzman as Maja’s yaya who later becomes the owner of a funeral parlor called Sa Dako Pa Roon.

The younger members of the cast include Janella Salvador as Emma, the new girl in town who eventually gets possessed by Maja; Joshua Garcia as Elias, a happy go lucky gardener who doesn’t believe in the killer bride, with Eric Nicolas and Keanna Reeves as his parents; and Neil Coleta, Pepe Herrera, Alexa Ilacad and Pamu Pamorada as his barkada. This is directed by Dado Lumibao and Roda de la Cerna and will eventually replace “Sino ang Maysala” on primetime.
