ATOM ARAULLO leads the team of anchors who will revolutionize online newscasting with “Stand for Truth”, a weeknight online newcast at 8 PM, shown in all of GMA’s digital platforms, notably GMA Public Affairs on youtube and GMA News Online. Atom will be joined by astute political analyst Richard Heydarian and perky “Unang Hirit” host Joyce Pring.

“GMA News is always innovating and we feel that the current digital landscape is ripe for this kind of innovation in newscasting, especially for young people on how they consume media today and can watch us on their cellphones,” says Atom. “People now have short attention spans so we have to bring the news to them on a more fast-paced manner. And also, they now react right away, sending messages to tell you na oily ang mukha mo or you’re wrong. And this is good as it will certainly keep us on our toes.”

They are also introducing 10 new young and fresh journalists recruited from all over the country who went through different levels of audition. They were then trained by the expert broadcast journalists of GMA before they finally face the camera to make their own reports. These lucky guys are: Bhea Docyogen - an Igorot from the Cordilleras who works as a DJ in Baguio and wants to share the latest news with the people in the remotest towns in her home province.

Anthony Esguerra - He’s from Bongabon, Nueva Ecija but studied journalism at the Ball University in Indiana, USA and wants to combat disinformation through investigative jounalism. Manal Sugadol - An English teacher from Cotabato who studied at Mindanao State University in Marawi and wants to enlighten everyone about the lives and culture of our Muslim Bangsamoro brothers.

Larize Lee - A Chinoy from Manila who has always loved storytelling and also works as a GMA PR executive. Asmarie Labao - A former forester and DENR information officer from Marawi. Jerald Uy - A former TV reporter and member of the LGBT community, also a vlogger and road safety advocate. Darwin Quirino - He’s from Puerto Princesa and speaks with a different kind of accent, has worked as communications officer for the Dept. of Foreign Affairs, Middle East and African Affairs.

Ardo Miravalles - A CPA from Silay and Cuenca, Batangas who specializes on the media and entertainment industry and aims to re-educate viewers through more accurate reports. Shai Lagarde - A former TV producer and now a lifestyle vlogger from Pampanga and Iloilo who wants to show that millennials really care for serious matters.  Edwin Faraon - The youngest in the group, he’s a senior high school student and campus journalist from Quezon Province who wants to be a catalyst for change.

“Stand for Truth” is the future of digital newscasting online and will start airing on April 15, Holy Monday, aiming to reach younger viewers while continuing the legacy and the principles that the GMA newsroom has always stood for through the years.
