“Yes, but before I signed up with GMA, nag-research muna ako along with my manager (Betchay Vidanes) about their culture,” she says. “I asked Kapuso friends like Lauren Young and Tom Rodriguez, who both came from ABS-CBN. Very favorable ang mga sinabi nila so sabi ko, GMA is it. And so far, so good. They’re all very nice and approachable. Magaan katrabaho ang lahat.”
She also likes it that her first project gives her the chance to work with an excellent ensemble cast. “I play Pearl Roces, anak ako ni Gloria Diaz at marami akong kapatid, like Carla Abellana, Gabbi Garcia, Sophie Albert and Shaira Diaz. It’s a very big cast with veteran stars like Elizabeth Oropesa, Snooky Serna and Ana Roces, plus Roi Vinzon as the patriarch, Rodolfo Roces. At enjoy rin ako sa director namin, Joel Lamangan, as I’m learning a lot from him.”

She admits she felt a bit depressed during her transition period from TV5 to GMA-7. “In life naman,
we all go through our own share of struggles concerning career opportunities and life goals every now and then. The important thing is you should be steadfast in believing in yourself, in what you can do. There’s no room for insecurities and I’ve since become stronger and more empowered in knowing where I should be going and who I am slowly becoming as a person.”
Jasmine has also finished shooting a new movie, “Never Tear Us Apart”, an entry in the Cinema One Originals Filmfest where she co-stars with Ricky Davao and Meryll Soriano, directed by Whammy Alcazaren. She plays the unconventional role of Jane, a dominatrix who indulges in acts of bondage, sadism and masochism. “It’s my most daring role to date. But the story is actually about humanity and our society today with the dominance of social media. It’s a thought-provoking film na may pagka-arthouse siya.”
