Sam Milby Plays A Dark Character In 'Halik', Talks About Break Up With Ex-Gf, Model Marie Jasmine, Who Is Now On With A Lesbian Filmmaker

SAM MILBY plays a rather dark character as Ace Corpuz in “Halik” that starts airing on August 13, replacing “Since I Found You”. He’s the husband of Yen Santos as Jacky and he might seem nice but he actually harbors a mysterious secret. How does he feel about playing such a role? “Okay naman,” he says. “Actually, this is not the first time for me to play an offbeat or gray character. I already did this before in past soaps, like ‘Maging Sino Ka Man’ and the one with Judy Ann Santos, ‘Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala’. Enjoy naman ako. I find them challenging. Here in ‘Halik’, Ace is not just a contravida but you have to understand where his character is coming from. This is a teleserye with a very adult theme about marital relationships. First time ko rito to work with Yen Santos. She plays my wife at first shooting day pa lang namin, kissing scene na agad. Siempre, at first, we felt awkward, nakakailang kasi hindi naman kami nagkaroon ng sensuality workshops, but after a while, we’re able to get along fine easily.”

Sam was in the news recently because his last girlfriend, a model named Marie Jasmine, recently outed herself as being in a relationship with lesbian indie filmmaker Samantha Lee. How does he feel about it?

“Honestly, I was very surprised,” he says. “But it’s not true na pinagsabay kami or anything. It happened long after we’ve broken up. But I really didn’t expect it as there were no signs at all that she’s open to that kind of a relationship when we’re still together.”

Does he regret having been on with her? Does he feel any bitterness? “No. The way I understand it, it’s her first time to experience this kind of relationship, but that’s all I can say because I don’t know the whole story coming from her side. I want to make it clear dun sa nag-iisip na, ah kaya, pala sila nag-break ni Sam, na it’s not the reason why we parted. No overlapping at all. Basta ako, at this point, if that’s where she’s happy, then I am happy for her. We parted naman as friends, so we’re okay. I don’t feel bitter or anything, just happy for her.”
