Sofia Andres Says People Think She's Suplada But Actually, It's A Defense Mechanism To Mask Her Insecurities

SOFIA ANDRES got a lot of flak for tinkering with her cellphone while being interviewed by bloggers who wrote that she obviously has an attitude problem and is disrespectful. She then wrote in her Twitter account that she’s “too tired to be nice.”

This prompted more detractors to lambast her, saying they’re happy that her launching film with Regal,  “Mama’s Girl”, flopped big time at the box office. Someone even said that she’s sulking because she goes solo in her new show, “Bagani”. “Nagmamarakulyo siguro kasi pinaghiwalay sila ng boyfriend niyang si Diego Loyzaga,” they add.

She later apologized, saying she was just undergoing some personal issues during that time. “I’m really sorry about it,” she says. “They felt like I disrespected them because I was using my phone while I was being interviewed. I promise it won’t happen again.”

She admits she’s just putting up a front and this makes people think she’s “suplada” or snooty. “It’s because I’m afraid of rejection,” she adds in her social media account. “My defense mechanism is to always act like, ‘I am a strong woman and you can’t bring me down.’ But the truth is I have no self-confidence, I have insecurities, yes I do.”

In “Bagani”, Sofia plays a lowly slave from the tribe of fishermen or “tagalaot” and, during its presscon, her co-star, Liza Soberano, defended her saying she’s just misunderstood.

“Mahiyain lang talaga siya,” says Liza. “Even sa taping, she’s very shy. She just stays in her own corner, so we try to encourage her to join us when we’re playing or bonding.”

Their director in “Bagani”, Lester Pimentel, says they didn’t have any problem with Sofia in the show. “Very cooperative naman siya. Sobrang mahinhin lang, pero kapag take na, she does eveything you ask of her, kahit gaano kahirap. Sa action scenes, hindi siya nagpapa-double. She’s very professional.”

Sofia herself says she has no problem with her co-stars and co-worker in “Bagani”. “Mabait po silang lahat at magaan katrabaho. Walang ilangan at all at para kaming pamilya lahat sa taping. Sa mga na-offend sa’kin noon, sorry po, hindi na mauulit.”
