Story Of Two Brides To Be: Zsa Zsa Padilla Wants A Simpler Wedding Compared To 'Bes & The Beshies' Co-Star Ai Ai De Las Who Prefers A Grand Wedding

ZSA ZSA PADILLA does not mind if her role in “Bes and the Beshies” was first offered to other actresses. “I know that I wasn’t the first choice from the start but that’s just okay with me,” she says. “Ang importante, ako yung last choice kasi maganda yung role ko. And that’s the first thing naman I consider when I accept a project, kung maganda ba yung role they’re offering to me. Also, I make sure wala akong tinatapakang ibang tao. Very challenging ang role ko rito as Melba, kasi Bisaya ako rito and I have to deliver all my lines with a Visayan accent. Mahirap, a. Lalo na kapag nagdadrama ka, umiiyak ka, tapos Bisaya pa rin ang salita mo. Kung minsan, nakakalimutan ko kaya nakakagalitan ako ni Direk Joel Lamangan. Siempre nga naman, I have to be consistent all throughout the movie. It’s a joy to work again with Direk Joel na nakatrabaho ko na before on TV and in the movies sa ‘Zsa Zsa Zaturnaah’ and ‘Mano Po 6’.”




Zsa Zsa’s leading man in “Bes and the Beshies” is Emilio Garcia. “He’s my husband na laging wala kasi traveling salesman siya. Buti na nga lang, may best friends ako ritong sina Ai Ai de las Alas, Carmi Martin and Beauty Gonzalez to keep me company.”

Both she and Ai Ai will get married soon, but unlike Ai Ai who will have a grand church wedding with her groom, Zsa Zsa prefers to keep it simple. “Wala pa kaming definite date kasi may inaayos pa. Kapag tinatanong nga ako ni Conrad (Onglao, her groom) about the details of our wedding, sabi ko, huwag mo nang problemahin. No offense meant to Ai Ai who’ll have a big wedding but me, I really want to keep it simple. Sabi ko, kaysa gastusin namin doon ang hard-earned money namin, ilagay na lang sa business o itabi na lang namin for our retirement. Tanggap kong 53 na ako, so I just want to be practical. Mas gusto ko for us to have a small resort in Palawan where we can offer bed and breakfast to tourists.”

She broke up with Conrad for a while. “Ngayon lang ako nakipagbalikan with someone I’ve broken up with. I had to have some healing sessions muna and had to forgive some things in my past to come to terms with the acceptance na makikipagbalikan ako. Nahiya kasi ako noong una kasi, parang niluwa ko na, tapos kakainin ko pala uli.”

All her companions in “Bes and the Beshies” are praising Zsa Zsa for being so easy to work with. “She’s very professional,” says line producer Dennis Evangelista. “Never nale-late sa shoot at kung minsan, nauuna pa siyang dumating sa staff. Napakagaan niyang katrabaho.”
