JANELLA SALVADOR is a Kapamilya talent but she’s co-managed with Manny Valera who made her sign up with Regal. She has done two big movies as a Regal Millennial Baby: “Haunted Mansion”, a surprise big hit in the Metro Manila Filmfest two years ago, and “Mano Po 7.”
She’s now shooting the romantic fantasy “My Fairy Tail Love Story” with Elmo Magalona, directed by Perci Intalan. Its trailer is a big hit on the internet, garnering more than a million hits and counting. How is it doing a mermaid movie? “I’m having super duper fun at sana makapasok talaga kami sa Metro Filmfest,” she says. “Enjoy ako flapping my sirena tail in the water kahit it’s about an hour bago maikabit ang buong buntot ko. I really trained hard for it kasi nag-training ako ng mermaid lessons sa isang diving pool. We also shot on location in beaches in Zambales and Batanagas. I got so sunburnt ni hindi ako makatawa kasi masakit sa balat ko.”
Is it true she had wardrobe malfunction when her boobs accidentally popped out while shooting an underwater scene? “Ay, no, hindi naman ako nakitaan. Yung una kasing ginamit nila, dinidikit yung silicon. E, nung nabasa ng water at nasama sa pawis ko, naalis. Pero bago pa man tuluyang naalis, naremedyuhan na nila kaya walang nakita sa akin at all.”How is her movie different from past mermaid movies like “Dyesebel”? “It’s so different kasi I was not born naman a mermaid kundi I was just cursed. My name is Chantal and I’m a sobrang maarte at malditang mermaid.”
So is she and leading man Elmo Magalona now an item? “We’re closer now than before. Sa bawat project namang gawin namin, tulungan kami so, it’s really a partnership.”
Will she have a kissing scene with Elmo? “No, I’m not yet ready to do a kissing scene. I think it’s not yet time for me.”Is it true she had a rift with her mom, Jenine Desiderio, who’s against Elmo? “Hindi naman sa ganun. Let’s just say moms are really protective sa mga anak nila. Favor lang, wag na nating pag-usapan ang mom ko. I’d rather not talk about kasi baka lumaki pa and I don’t want things to get worse kasi I believe malapit na naming maayos ito. In the end, she’s still my mom so let’s not add fuel into the fire, please.”
Mother Lily Monteverde and her daughter Roselle obviously believe in her as they just renewed her contract with Regal Entertainment for another four picture and even before “My Fairy Tale Love Story”, she’s already given another assignment, “So Connected”, directed by hitmaker Jason Paul Laxamana of “100 Tula Para kay Stella”. For this, they will choose a new leading man for her.“I’m really super duper happy to renew my contract with Regal. Happy naman talaga ako rito. Sana marami pa akong magawang movies with them.”
