After Hit Comedy 'Woke Up Like This', Mother Lily Monteverde Now Comes Up With A Youth Oriented Horror Flick, 'The Debutantes', Starring Five New Young Actresses

MOTHER LILY MONTEVERDE is optimistic that her next release, “The Debutantes”, after the big comedy hit “Woke Up Like This” will similarly be a blockbuster. “It’s a youth-oriented horror movie,” she says. “Ibang-iba ang look, colorful, at magaling yung five sexy young girls we got to star in it, sina Sue Ramirez, Miles Ocampo, Chanel Morales, Michelle Vito and Jane de Leon, directed by Prime Cruz.”

Sue is in the center of the story as Kate, a sad loner in school who tries to befriend her classmates: Miles as Lara, Jane as Jenny, Michelle as Candice and Chanel as Shayne. But it’s only Lara who is kind to her. The others turn out to be mean girls who bullied her. Kate then has a nightmare and sees something bad happening to them. She warns them but they ignore it, leading to some horrifying consequences.

“Lahat kami rito, title rolers,” says Sue. “Kasi lahat kami we’ll have our 18th birthday, pero something tragic will happen. This is a big break for all of us, thanks to Regal and their trust na ibinigay nila sa amin.”

Sue, Miles, Michelle and Jane are all from Star Magic. Chanel is the only who came from TV5 and is now managed by Arnold Vegafria. Didn’t she feel out of place while they were shooting the film? “No naman, kasi sa storycon pa lang when I first met them, nakasundo ko na sila agad lahat. I really admire these girls, kasi kahit different ang managements namin, everything went on smoothly sa set at hindi kami nagkailangan.”

How were these IT Girls cast in the movie? “Matagal ang process ng casting,” says Direk Prime. “We have to make sure we get the right girl for the right role, but I think kami nina Ms. Roselle made the right decision because Sue, Miles, Michelle, Jane and Chanel all did very well in their respective roles and I’m proud of the work they’ve done in the movie. Si Sue, may pagkabali, but kailangan ng kabaliwan para gumaling ka. Si Miles, magaling pati sa nuances. Chantal was afraid to swim but she was willing to overcome her fears for the project. Si Michelle, siya ang pina-okay takutin of all the girls while Jaen is the newest but kaya niyang sumabay with all the girls.”

Don’t fail to see “The Debutantes” when it opens in theaters nationwide on October 4.
