Regine Velasquez Celebrates 30th Anniversary In Showbiz With A New Commemorative Album And A New Concert, Both Titled 'R3.0'

REGINE VELASQUEZ is celebrating her 30th anniversary in showbiz in a big way, releasing a new album and coming up with a grand solo concert, both of which are titled “R3.0”. The concert will be held at MOA Arena and will feature a retrospective of her biggest hits, new recordings and popular oldies that are dear to her heart. The album will be a 3-volume set with new versions of her top sellers and her personal favorites, plus new songs from the best Filipino composers today.

“R3.0” marks the Songbird’s return to Viva, where she first hit it big as a singer and actress. It was with Viva that she made her first album in 1987, which scored her first big hit, “Urong Sulong”, and her first movie theme song, “Isang Lahi”, used in the movie “Gabi na Kumander”. More hits followed like “On the Wings of Love”, “Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang”, “Dadalhin”, “Ikaw”, etc. As a concert artist, she has performed all over the world, including in the famous Carnegie Hall in New York.

She got her big break as an actress in “Wanted Perfect Mother” with Christopher de Leon, and more blockbusters followed, like “You Are My Song”, “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” with Robin Padilla, “Ikaw Lamang Hanggang Ngayon” with Richard Gomez for which she won the Box Office Queen title and “Of All the Things” with Aga Muhlach for which she won the Enpress best actress in comedy award.

Regine has really come a long way from winning the grand prize in “Ang Bagong Kampeon” when she was only 14 years old. Now, she’s not only successful in her career, currently with two regular shows on GMA-7, “Sarap Diva” and “Mulawin vs. Ravena” where she plays Mother Nature, but also in her family life with hubby Ogie Alcasid and their son Nate.

So don’t miss Regine’s much awaited anniversary concert at the MOA on October 21, 2017, after which Boss Vic del Rosario says she will be making a new movie with Viva by early 2018. What preparations are she taking for her big concert?

“I have to be physically fit kasi two hours akong kakanta, with 30 songs,” she says. “Dati, lagi akong may ka-back to back sa concerts ko. E, this time, solo lang ako so I need to lose weight para maging magaan ang pakiramdam and I can move with more energy. But I’m excited as I really miss singing. For a while, I became so engrossed being a wife and mom. I’m glad Viva came and offered to do a new album and a solo concert.”

Now that Nate is 5 years old, do they intend to come up with another baby soon? “Hindi na namin priority yan kasi 50 na si Ogie sa birthday niya next month at mid-40s naman ako, so okay na si Nate. Anyway, bale dalawa na ang anak namin kasi kasama na namin ngayon ang daughter ni Ogie na si Leila and we’re a very happy family.”
