Metro-Manila Filmfest Official Run Ends On Thursday, January 7, Top Grossers Sure To Be Extended

THE OFFICIAL RUN of the Metro-Manila Filmfest will end tomorrow, January 7. For sure, the top four moneymaking movies at the box office will have an extended run: “My Bebe Love”, “Beauty and the Bestie”, “Haunted Mansion” and “Walang Forever”. The others will have to give way to the reopening of “Star Wars, The Force Awakens” in several theaters.

We don’t know why some writers claim that “mahina ang filmfest” this year. Current MMDA Chairman Emerson Carlos himself refutes this. He says that the first eight days of the filmfest already raked in P737 million and, as of this writing, it nears P900 million already, so he estimates that by the time that it ends on Thursday, they would have hit a total of P1.01 billion. He added that the daily gross of the entries this year didn’t decrease compared to the 2014 daily gross. It’s expected that MMFF management will officially release the exact box office earnings of each entry after the filmfest has ended.
