Janella Salvador A Big Winner In The Recent Filmfest When Mother Lily's Gamble On Her Paid Off Big Time

TODAY IS THE last day of the Metro-Manila Filmfest official run. There are many winners in the last annual filmfest, like Jennylyn Mercado who scored a back-to-back best actress win and Maine Mendoza who won an acting award for her very first movie. But one newcomer who is definitely a winner is Janella Salvador. Imagine a neophyte like her starring in her very first movie, “Haunted Mansion”, that made it as one of the festival’s three top grossers.

Mother Lily and Regal gambled on her and it paid off. She’s actually solo here and she has no leading men because both Marlo Mortel and Jerome Ponce were not fortunate enough to get her (or survive) as the film ends. It’s only Janella who appears up to the very last frame.

With her first movie so successful and on extended run, it’s no wonder Mother Lily wants the film’s director, Jun Lana, to scout around for a new movie material for her since she has a contract with Regal when it comes to movies, but with ABS-CBN for TV shows. Janella just did a guest appearance in “Eat Bulaga” with her mom. Jenine Desiderio, three years ago when she was 14. Manny Valera asked her mom if she wants to be an “artista” and when she said yes, Manny signed her as one of the talents of his DMV Talent Management. She was sent to audition for “Be Careful with My Heart”, where her tandem with Marlo started, with Jerome playing as her older brother.

Now, three years later, she’s a TV and movie star in her own right. ABS-CBN is charting new territory for her now that she’s paired with Elmo Magalona in “Wansapanataym” and later, in a new soap, “Born for You”. Let's see if her fans would still support her now that she has a new partner. But 2015 is really her breakout year as she also starred solo in her own morning soap, “Oh My G”, and she got to release her debut album. She was also hired by Hongkong Disneyland to sing the theme song for their recent 10th anniversary. For all these blessings, Janella says she has nothing but gratitude for the Lord and all her fans who continue to support her.
