His batchmates in that movie are no longer active, Cogie Domingo and Danilo Barrios, so he feels lucky that he’s able to make a comeback and is still busy with acting projects up to now.
“I left in 2005 when I got married and put up some businesses,” he says. “I made a comeback in 2005 with Tita Annabelle Rama as my manager and since then, tuloy-tuloy na. I did ‘Nagbabagang Bulaklak’ and ‘Valiente’ sa TV5, then lumipat ako sa ABS and did ‘Lorenzo’s Time’, ‘Kahit Konting Pagtingin’, ‘Juan de la Cruz’ and ‘Mirabella’. Last year, kinuha naman ako ng GMA-7 sa ‘Yagit’ opposite Yasmien Kurdi. Now, kasama ako sa ‘Marimar’. Wala yung character ko sa original. Pero dinagdag ako rito as Rodolfo.
Boyfriend ako ni Solenn Heussaff as Capuccina Blanchette. May kissing scene kami at nagselos yung youngest daughter ko. Tapos, Megan Young as Marimar will use me para pagselosin si Tom Rodriguez as Sergio.”
So when will he play lead roles again? “At this point, wala na akong ganun ilusyon. 35 na ako noong June. Happy na ako sa character roles. Basta ang importante, maganda ang role ko. Ang dream ko, manalo naman sana ng award para magkaroon ng recognition ang pagiging artista ko.”
He feels lucky he can also do movies with Star Cinema. “Kasama ako sa ‘A Second Chance’ as the blind friend nina John Lloyd Cruz. Mas mahaba sana yung role ko kaya lang four times a week ang taping namin sa ‘Marimar’ so hindi ako makapag-shoot sa kanila kaya umikli lang yung role ko. Next year naman, I will start shooting a movie abroad, ‘Balatkayo’, na lead role naman ako. OFW kami rito ni Aiko Melendez na mag-asawa, sa Dubai and Taiwan, at pareho kaming matutukso sa iba. Ako kay Natalie Hart, siya kay Rodjun Cruz. Hopefully, by the time we start shooting, patapos na ang ‘Marimar’ para makasama ko sa location shoot sa ibang bansa.”
His wife, Tania Creighton, manages a European store in SM Aura. Their three kids are Joaquin Inigo (10 years old), James Sebastian (9) and Natalia Simone (4).
