“I’m really thankful to GMA for this project,” he says. “I’m very excited kasi di ko akalaing matatapos na ang taon, magkakaroon pa ako ng new show. Ito rin kasi yung klase ng show na masarap gawin at masarap panoorin. Feel good talaga. Ang gagaling ng mga kasama kong artista. Most of them, ngayon ko lang nakasama, like Valerie Concepcion who plays my estranged wife. Pinsan nga ang tawagan namin. First time ko rin sa GMA, and everyone gave me a warm welcome, pati our director Mark Reyes. Ang ganda ng atmosphere sa set.”
He’s leaving for the U.S. on December 17 to do a series of shows and he’ll be back on January 5. “I will have shows in California and Texas. Natanguan ko na ang mga yun even before ‘Because of You’ started at di puedeng ikansel. So ngayon, double time kami sa taping ng advanced episodes. Sometimes we tape four times a week para hindi kami maubusan habang wala ako.”
As an RTW magnate in the story, he’s called by the girls around him as Boss Yummy. And he has, in fact, retained his yumminess through the years. Compared to his contemporaries who look their age, he has maintained his youthful looks. He turned 51 on Nov. 5 but he can pass for someone 20 years younger. What’s his secret?
“Wala, I moisturize a lot lang and drink plenty of water. I try to work out. Pero diet, ang hirap, e. My metabolism is not as fast as before. My ideal weight is 165 pero 185 lbs. nga ako ngayon so I need to lose weight.”
What happened to his reunion project with ex-wife Sharon Cuneta? “Naku, willing na willing akong gawin yan. Noon ko pa hinihintay. I think yung problem is hinihintay nila ang right material. But one show I’d like to do is yung kasama ko lahat ng mga ex ko.”
Aside from Sharon, this would include Grace Ibuna, Jenny Syquia, Anjanette Abayari, Dindi Gallardo, and many more.
