Can he identify with the role? "I think we both love sports and adventure. But more than that, I can feel he's a very loving person and he truly loves Marimar. Si Sergio, maituturing nang isang iconic character, just like Marimar. So physically, pinaghandaan ko talaga siya when I was told I'll have to do scenes where I'm shown shirtless. I did circuit training and boxing to make sure I'm in good shape."
How is it working with our country's first Miss World? "We've done shows before so magkakilala na talaga kami and we're quite comfortable na with each other. But what's really nice to knowabout Megan is that even if she's a world beauty titlist, she has remained as humble and down to earth as when we first worked together years ago. Hindi lumaki ang ulo niya na to make you feel na Miss World siya."
How will he handle their love scenes? "We're both professionals so I believe there will be no problem. We'll just try to give justice to our roles and the scenes that Director Dominic Zapata will require us to do. I know he has some great ideas on how to update the familiar material and make it more relatable to today's generation and we're ready to collaborate with him."
Is his role here more challenging than in the hit soap with Dennis Trillo "My Husband's Lover"? Bawat role naman, may kanya-kanyang sets of challenges. 'My Husband's Lover' is very different. Although it's also a drama, there's the gay element that made it more challenging. But the demands of 'Marimar' are different kasi kilala na ito ng viewers, nagawa na before ng iba, so dapat, mapantayan ko yung interpretation ng iba before and if possible, malampasan ko pa, kaming dalawa ni Megan as we'll be breathing new life and giving new dimensions to characters that have been loved by viewers before. And we're both ready and excited to take that challenge and give our very best. Magkahalong excitement at kaba talaga ang nararamdaman namin sa ngayon kasi we know mataas ang expectations ng mga rito. And we promise them something different kasi hindi siya basta remake. Despite the familiar story and characters, we guarantee that they'll be watching something new. Like yung asong si Fulgoso, this time, he's voicd by Boobay kaya asong bading ang dating niya para naiiba. So abangan nyo dahil talagang maraming magagandang sorpresa when it starts airing on Monday."
Won't this pairing with Megan ruin his love team with Carla Abellana? "Carla is very happy for Megan and me so I see no problem. We'll be still together naman on the big screen. We're about to finish shooting a new movie for Regal, 'No Boyfriend Since Birth', a rom-com directed by Joey Reyes."
