Isn’t he afraid viewers might consider him a kontrabida since he steals Jen from Dennis in the story? “Actually, akong unang boyfriend dito ni Jen. College sweethearts kami. But I’m ambitious, I went to America when I got a basketball scholarship at nag-aral ako roon. I didn’t know that when I left, pregnant na pala si Jen. Then she met Dennis and pinanagutan yung pinagbubuntis niya and they got married. Years later, I return to Manila and become a boss in a big company. Nagkataon, nag-apply roon si Jen at nagkita kami uli. Doon ko na-realized na I still love her kaya niligawan ko uli kahit may asawa na siya at nagkaroon nga kami ng affair.”
His real life sweetheart, former Miss World Megan Young, is paired with Tom Rodriguez in the new version of “Marimar”. We heard they have plenty of kissing scenes. Doesn’t he get jealous? “Walang selosan. May kissing scenes din naman kami ni Jennylyn. And I trust Tom. Matagal na kaming friends kasi magkasama kami sa very first movie ko pa lang, ‘Temptation Island’, so there’s nothing to be afraid of. I’m really very happy for them nasa kanila napunta such a good project like ‘Marimar’.”
Has he visited them on the “Marimar” set? “No. Malayo location nila, sa La Union. E, kami naman, we’re taping ‘My Faithful Husband’ in Cavite. We’re both busy and more focused with work. Kasi ako, may ‘Ismol Family’ pa ako and ‘Midnight Express’ kaya busy talaga.”
It’s good their relationship thrives even if they seldom see each other? “As long as may communication, okay lang. Nakatagal nga kami when she was staying abroad as Miss World, di ba? At ako rin, ang tagal ko sa Cambodia shooting ‘Blood in Dispute’. It’s easy naman to communicate these days through skype, viber, email. Ang importante, you maintain your friendship kahit hindi kayo nagkikita.”
