In contrast, another child of Ai Ai in the movie, Serena Dalrymple, is now doing very well in England. She has finished college and even has a masteral degree. She now has a regular high paying non-showbiz job. It's good Serena was able to go out of showbiz after her career as a child star has cooled down.
But not everyone is as successful. It's good if you grow up being good looking and can transition into lead star material, like other child stars who became big lead stars such as Vilma Santos, Gina Alajar, Lorna Tolentino and Ian Veneracion. But alas, we all know Jiro is not leading man material as he doesn't have matinee idol good looks. It can be very hard to accept that you're already a has been for someone still so young. And then he got hooked into drugs and became a dad of two daughters while still a teenager, which made his problems worse.
Ai Ai is optimistic Jiro can recover with proper guidance. "He needs a lot of love and understanding," she adds. "Sana maibigay natin iyon sa kanya hanggang sa makatayo siya uli sa kanyang mga paa."
