Ronwaldo Martin, Coco Martin's Younger Brother, Launched To Stardom In 'Mga Isda Sa Tuyong Lupa'

RONWALDO MARTIN is being launched to stardom as the leading man in "Mga Isda sa Tuyong Lupa". He's the half brother of Coco Martin. "We have the same father," he says. He's 18 years old and in fourth year high school. He has appeared in three indie films: "Kasal", "Tumbang Preso" and "My Life with the King". How's Coco as a big brother? "Mabait," says Ronwaldo who's uncomfortable with the press.

He's managed by Ferdie Lapus, who says Coco is very supportive of his younger brother.

In "Mga Isda", Ronwaldo plays Adil, a Badjao young man whose grandma is Gina Pareno and whose mom is Anna Capri. He and Barbie Forteza as Nadia, the leading lady, are very much in love in Zamboanga (where they'll shoot the start of the film on location) but Ronwaldo's family is so poor they don't have the money to pay for Barbie's dowry. Barbie's parents, Roi Vinzon and Raquel Pareno, take her to Manila and she is given to Jak Roberto as Barraq, who's able to pay the dowry. Jak is already married to Kim Rodriguez as Shana'a, but he leaves her for Barbie. Also in the cast are Rodjun Cruz as Anna Capri's young lover, Suzette Ranillo as Jak's mom, Felixia Dizon as Ronwaldo's sister, Erika Yu as Barbie's sister who becomes a child bride, Benjie Felipe as Imam and Ezekiel Jaz and Ren Abad as friends of Ronwaldo and Jak.

We tell Ferdie to get Rosa Rosal, who starred in the acclaimed Asian best picture awardee, "Badjao". They can ask Ms. Rosal to play Barbie's lola who'll appear even in just one scene while Barbie is saying goodbye to her as her family leaves for Manila. This will be a fitting tribute to Ms. Rosal and a way of paying homage to the movie directed by the late National Artist Lamberto Avellana.
