Starquest Alliance Production Produces Director Arlyn De La Cruz' 'Mandirigma', A Tribute To The Philippine Marines

A NEW entertainment company is launched in StarQuest Alliance Production with the 23-year old law student Mark Angelo Castillo as president, Kim Reyes as COO and Ronald Rafer as PRO. Their first film project is “Mandirigma”, a tribute to the Philippine Marines written and directed by journalist Arlyn de la Cruz who earlier did the acclaimed “Maratabat”.

Earlier, it was announced that Derek Ramsay will play the lead role in the movie and Arlyn confirmed this. “Derek met with us and he really likes the project,” she says. “But the problem is his schedule. Sa dami ng ginagawa niya, he can be available to shoot it only on April 29 pa. E, our producer already has a playdate na, April 9, which is a holiday dahil Araw ng Kagitingan, so we got Luis Alandy to replace him. Also in the cast are Alwyn Uytingco, Ping Medina, Marc Solis, Mon Confiado, Jerico Ejercito, Ken Anderson, Carlo Cruz, Buboy Villar, Dennnis Coronel, Maria Isabel Lopez and the new young stars discovered by Star Quest.”

Arlyn wants to clarify that “Mandirigma” is not a film version of what happened to SAF44 in Mamasapano. “We actually started shooting in October pa. This is about the Marines, not the PNP. But this is also based on true stories about the killings of our soldiers by the MIFF, notably the one that happened in Basilan in 2011 where Marines were brutally beheaded. This is with the approval of the top brass of the Marines and is the first action-drama that shows what being a soldier really means. Starquest has big plans in the big way they aim to promote it kasi marami silang network of allied companies that will help us. They will even hold a fun run at Quezon Memorial Circle to give the orphaned families of our country’s heroes their just due.”
Starquest will not only make films but also do TV commercials, corporate events like product launches and conventions, concerts, car shows, fashion shows and talent searches like their coming Slim Bodies Model Search. To get their services, you can contact Starquest Alliance at 404 STG Bldg, 76 Timor Ave., QC, tel. 374-3887 or at www.starquestprod.com.
