Erich Gonzales Says Viewers Are So Angry With Her Because Of Her Bida-Kontrabida Role In 'Two Wives'

ERICH GONZALES says she never thought Janine, the role she plays in “Two Wives”, which is ending in the next two weeks, will be the badass that she is now. “When the story started, she’s shy, kimi, but eventually, sumabog siya at naging palaban, naging bida-kontrabidang sumama nang husto na pati yung batang anak nina Kaye Abad at Jason Abalos, naaksidente’t nahulog sa imburnal dahil sa pananakot ko. It’s the most challenging role I’ve played so far. Ang daming angst noong character kaya sobra ang impact pati sa viewers. Sobrang messages sa’kin sa Instagram. Galit na galit sa akin at may threats pa. Di yata nila naiintindihan that I’m just playing a role and it’s my job to do it well.”

The story has strayed far from the original Koreanovela source. Didn’t the Koreans complain about the changes they made to extend the story? “Wala namang complain,” says head writer Gina Tagasa Gil. “Alam naman nila the changes we did are meant mas lumalim ang story. Mas may kabigatan nga kami, kasi ibinagay namin sa panlasa ng Pinoy viewers. Real drama ang atake namin and not the usual teleserye. Hinukay namin talaga ang mga emosyon. Hindi sila magrereklamo kasi ang taas-taas ng rating namin.”

For months, viewers followed the intense conflict between Erich as Janine and Kaye Abad as Yvonne, along with the men in their lives: Victor (Jason Abalos), Albert (Patrick Garcia), Dale (Rayver Cruz), and Kenjie (Daniel Matsunaga). As its conclusion draws near, viewers are eager to find out how Yvonne and Janine’s intense rift will end. When will revenge stop consuming them? Who’ll be victorious in the end? Will there be forgiveness for both of them? Will the story of the Pinay “Two Wives” end just like that of their Korean counterparts?
