Didn’t he get tense when he was doing “Dementia” with Ate Guy? “We shot it in Batanes at ang ganda ng lugar. When I was her producer at TV5, I admit natetension ako kapag may mga ayaw siyang gawin. But surprisingly, as her director in ‘Dementia’, wala akong naging problema. I understand her artistic temperament. You don’t really need to direct her. Kailangan mo lang siyang pakawalan and she knows what to do. Very helpful siya sa mga bago niyang kasama like Chynna Ortaleza, Jasmine Curtis Smith and Jeric Gonzales. Very generous siya, pati sa crew.”
How did he get involved with “Shake 15”? “Friends kami ni Roselle Monteverde at nagbatuhan kami ng ideas about her story concept na everything happens inside a plane where no one escapes. This was before ‘Dementia’ pa. Then she saw the rushes of ‘Dementia’ and she said, ikaw na magdirek nung episode sa ‘Shake 15’. So I asked Rene Dimla and Ebie Macapugay, writer protégées ng asawa ko (Jun Lana), to write the full script. Tapos binuo na nina Roselle at supervising producer Manny Valera ang casting. Kasi ang laki ng cast nito dahil sa dami ng characters na pasahero sa plane at isa-isang papatayin noong mysterious creature na isisilang ng isang passenger sa loob mismo ng plane during the flight. We’ll shoot this in a plane sa Clark and use a lot of CGI for the creature.”
When will “Dementia” be shown? “Papaunahin namin ang ‘Hustisya’ ni Ate Guy that opens August 1. ‘Dementia’ is end of September. Pero kasama rin siya in a special role in Jun’s ‘Mga Kuwentong Barbero’ with Eugene Domingo, which will be released on August 13.”
