Mother Lily Monteverde has a new events place at the former Mother’s School called The Valencia Place

MOTHER LILY MONTEVERDE has a new events place at the former Mother’s School called The Valencia Place near Gilmore Ave. She invited us there last Wednesday night to watch the special Lenten dinner concert of world class pianist Raul Sunico and members of the UST Conservatory of Music (where he is the dean), “Food for the Soul”. Fr. Jepoy Arsciwals, OP, delivered some inspirational spiels about Lent before each musical presentation.

Among those who sang very touching songs that are all relevant to the sacred season were sopranos Elisanta Cortes, Nenen Espina and Thea Perez, tenors Eugene de los Santos and Ronan Ferrer and bass Jun Jaranilla. They’re all impressive and it was a very uplifting evening indeed, what with us being seated right beside Mr. Ado Escudero, president of Villa Escudero, who’s 80 years old but looks so much younger than his age. Mr. Escudero heartily shouted “Bravo! Bravo!” after Mr. Sunico superbly performed two difficult piano pieces composed by Franz Lizst, especially the one about St. Francis of Assissi.

The Valencia Place at 38 Valencia St. is being managed by Lorna Tolentino, Lyn Ynchausti Cruz, Maritess Gutierrez and Maricar Magalona. They’re also developing Mother Lily’s former coffee shop along Valencia St. into a bistro.

Mother Lily’s daughter, Roselle, was there and she informed us that they’ve finished shooting two new films: “So It’s You”, a romantic comedy starring Carla Abellana, Tom Rodriguez, JC De Vera and Bangs Garcia, directed by Jun Lana; and “Somebody to Love” starring Iza Calzado, Carla Abellana, Isabelle Daza, Jason Abalos, Matteo Guidicelli and Kiray Celis, directed by Jose Javier Reyes.

They’re also starting a new movie starring Marian Rivera and Derek Ramsay, written by Roy Iglesias. They’re now looking for the right director for the project which will be very very sexy as Marian will be playing a high class escort girl.
