Jasmine Curtis-Smith On Rumored BF Sam Concepcion's Being Paired To Julia Barretto

JASMINE CURTIS-SMITH proved that rumors she’s joining her Ate Anne at ABS-CBN aren’t true. She just renewed her contract with TV5 for another three years, surely a sign that she doesn’t want to be in her older sister’s shadow.

“Natagalan lang ang negotiations for renewal, but I’m okay naman as a Kapatid. Nakita ko na they didn’t give up on me and continued giving me work even if I was busy with my studies in Melbourne, so there’s no need to transfer elsewhere. Gusto ko ring bumawi for all the love they gave me the past three years,” she says.

TV5’s entertainment head Wilma Galvante says she’ll be hosting and act in TV shows and movies. “She’s now hosting ‘SpinNation’ on Saturday nights, but her first project for her new contract will be a weekly drama anthology co-produced with Unitel and an ad agency, Saatchi, directed by Mike Alcazaren who directed her in the CineFilipino movie, ‘Puti’. There’s also a plan to pair her with Nora Aunor in a movie,” says Ms. Galvante.
This means Jasmine has no chance of being paired with rumored BF Sam Concepcion, who’s one of the leading men of Julia Barretto in her launching soap. “I’m happy for him. He’s been with ABS for ten years and I’m glad he’s finally given a show where he’s one of the leading men. Kaming dalawa, we can’t work together because we belong to different networks. But malay natin, baka in a movie...”

Has she finally left her Ate Anne’s home and moved to her own condo? “Not yet. Hindi pa ako handa. Isa pa, Christmas season na so we need to be together. I’m in no rush.”

How’s her Ate Anne after the slapping scandal? “She’s very professional. She’s now in Abu Dhabi for her ‘Anne-Bisyosa’ concert. She’s moving on and staying positive.”

At the moment, Jasmine is busy campaigning in social media for her first movie, “Transit,” for which she won her first acting award as Best Supporting Actress at this year’s Cinemalaya and is the country’s entry to the Oscar’s Best Foreign Language Film category. “It really depends on the U.S. distributor to promote it among Oscar voters. I’m really praying we make it to the Final 5. If ever mapili kami, I will leave everything here and go there as it’s my one and only chance to attend the Academy Awards. Palalampasin ko pa ba ’yun? Siyempre, hindi.”
