“She’s The One” is his third movie for Star Cinema. How is it doing a rom-com after doing the horror flick “Segunda Mano” and the drama “One More Try”? “I love doing this movie and it’s a privilege to do it kasi parang may kakaibang magic na nangyari as we all clicked instantly, kami ng director naming si Mae Cruz and everyone in the cast,” he says. “Lahat, very dedicated sa trabaho at very talented, very generous in giving themselves to the project, kaya naging magaan ang trabaho naming lahat.”
How is Bea as a leading lady? “My first impression of her is that what you see is what you get. She’s a genuine person, mabuting tao and very easy to get along with. I’m so glad everyone says maganda ang chemistry naming dalawa, even our respective partners (Zanjoe Marudo and Marian Rivera), na pareho ring very supportive sa amin.”
In “Genesis”, which replaces “My Husband’s Lover” starting Monday, he plays a PSG (presidential security guard) and is paired with Rhian Ramos. “Dream ko noon nto be a PSG. At least, natupad ngayon dito sa show. I’ve worked with Rhian before in ‘Stairway to Heaven’ at tinanggap naman ng viewers ang tambalan namin noon so I’m confident na magiging maganda rin ang resulta ng ‘Genesis’. Kasama rin namin si Ms. LT (Lorna Tolentino) na nakasama ko naman sa ‘Pahiram ng Sandali’. Siya ang president ng ating bansa rito nang magkaroon ng crisis dahil sa paparating na asteroid na tumama sa ating planeta.”
The material seems quite dark since it's about the world’s end. Won’t viewers be turned off by this? “Although it’s about disasters, the story is really about mankind, about hope and love. Family drama talaga siya, backdrop lang yung end of the world crisis. The viewers will surely follow the story of the characters and the choices they have to make when they’re facing crisis situations. Every week, marami kaming guests, like Mark Anthony Fernandez, Lauren Young, Bembol Roco, Angel Aquino, Snooky Serna, Laurice Guillen, Robert Arevalo. Mahirap gawin ang show because of the special effects added later doon sa scenes which we have taped. So ini-imagine na lang namin na may meteor showers nga o lumilindol.”
The next few days, Dingdong will be busy promoting in both networks as “Genesis” starts airing on October 14 while “She’s The One” will be shown on October 16. “Lagari ako lalo sa weekend. I will promote ‘Genesis’ on ‘Startalk’, ‘Eat Bulaga’, ‘Mars’ and ‘Sunday All Stars’ sa GMA. I’ll promote naman ‘She’s The One’ on ‘The Buzz’, ‘Kris TV’, ‘Rated K’ and ‘GGV’ sa ABS. So abangan nyo ko as I make the rounds of all these shows.”
