Derek Ramsay As Love Triangle King Romances Alice Dixson & Ritz Azul In 'For Love Or Money'

DEREK RAMSAY is surely today’s Love Triangle King. On the big screen, his hit movies “No Other Woman” and “Secret Affair” portray him as an irresistible man women fight for. Now, in his return to drama on TV, he plays another such lucky guy in TV5’s “For Love or Money” as Edward, a photographer over whom Alice Dixson and Ritz Azul become bitter rivals.

“I’m really thankful to TV5 dahil after making me a host in ‘Amazing Race’, a superhero in ‘Kidlat’, an action star in ‘Undercover’, they now give me a major dramatic vehicle which I really missed since the last drama show I did is ‘Magkaribal’ five years ago pa sa ABS,” says Derek. “But when Direk Mac first told me about it, sabi ko, parang ‘Indecent Proposal’ ni Demi Moore. Ginagaya lang ba natin? He said, we have different values here in our country compared to those of the western world. We value marriage and family so much samantalang sila, very liberated. So ipakikita natin yun dito. Love and money are both a necessity in life, but do we put money over love? The show will ask many questions and make the viewers examine their own value systems themselves.”

The pilot episode was previewed to the press and it looks very promising. Derek has been married to Ritz as Roselle, a bank teller, for two years. They delay having a child due to financial constraints.

Alice plays Christine Almonte, a real estate and shipping magnate who maybe wallowing in wealth but lonely. In a church wedding where Derek is the photographer, she sees him with Ritz and asks her gay assistant, Ambet (Ricci Chan), to know everything about Derek. She later offers him a job and pays him well. Soon, she’s offering him P5 million just so he’ll stay with her. The pilot episode ends with a cliffhanger, she’s seen giving Derek a check and Derek kisses her, but we don’t know whether he’s accepting the offer or not.

We’re told they’ve taped only two full episodes so far. Yesterday (Tuesday), Derek left for Hawaii with estranged girlfriend of one month Cristine Reyes to do three shows in Honolulu, Maui and Kawai in Hawaii. They’ll be back by October 17 yet. Someone quips: “Baka mabitin ang show at maubusan ng ipalalabas?”

“The show is my priority,” he says. “So definitely, I will be back in time for us to tape new episodes.”

Will he be comfortable working with Cristine even if they just broke up? “It’s just work. We’re both professionals.”

Is it they split because he saw something in her he didn’t like? “Guys, we’ve been friends for three years. She’s a wonderful person.”

What if he and Cristine renew their relationship while travelling together? “We don’t know what’s going to happen in the future.”
