Sharon Cuneta And Ogie Alcasid's Sunday Night Show Is Off To A Good Start But Can Stand Some Improvement

SHARON CUNETA and Ogie Alcasid’s initial episode for their Sunday night show, “The Mega and the Songwriter”, got mixed reviews in social media. But most of the negative comments is about the technical aspects of the show. There are those who felt that the set design is quite outdated and that the lighting is inadequate.

When it comes to the content, though, we ourselves believe it cannot be faulted. As hosts and singers, both Sharon and Ogieare at their best. They’re certainly top pros in what they’re doing. And to think Sharon is said to be not feeling so well when they taped the premiere episode. Obviously, they all had a good time that the running time of the show meant to be for one hour extended to almost up to two hours.

One segment that got good feedback is the show’s effort to give a break to aspiring singers who put their videos on Youtube. This is okay but we believe they should feature new singers only one at a time, not like what they did in the pilot show where there’s a bunch of them and not all are truly deserving.

Sharon and Ogie did a great job of doing their own version of Daniel Padilla’s “Nasa’yo na ang Lahat”. Their rendition is definitely much better than the original. The portion where they sang some requested songs is a gem, especially Sharon’s version of Adelle’s “Someone Like You”, as requested by her husband Sen. Kiko and their daughters.

Also very entertaining is Sharon singing Ogie’s songs, “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang”, “Pangako” and “Ikaw ang Pag-ibig”, while Ogie sang Sharon’s “To Love Again” and “Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko”. If you’re looking for a show that’s a perfect way to cap your weekend, you can’t go wrong with the very relaxing and very entertaining “The Mega and the Songwriter” that airs Sundays at on TV5 so don’t miss it Sunday night at 9 PM.
