The Best Cinemalaya Entries & Performances Predicted To Win At The Awards Night This Sunday

THE CURRENT Cinemalaya entries have so many explicit sex scenes. Masturbation is very common so it can be called the Bayas-Bayasan Filmfest. Jake Cuenca satisfied himself not just once but twice in “Nuwebe”. First was while he’s having a shower in the slaughterhouse where he works. Next is inside their bahay kubo while looking at the fotos of his wife, Nadine Samonte.

Carlo Aquino is also shown masturbating in “Porno”, Alex Medina in “Babagwa” (with his semen shown spurting into the screen of the laptop in front of him) Mimi Juareza in “Quick Change” (after he’s sodomized by Junjun Quintana) and an unknown old man in “Rekorder” does it inside a movie house while watching a sexy film.

There are also boobs exposure galore: Rosanna Roces and Adriana Gomez in “Porno”, Althea Vega in “Amor Y Muerte”, the trannies in “Quick Change” and Eugene Domingo in “Instant Mommy”. Nadine Samonte is shown giving a blowjob to an unknown supporting actor in “Nuwebe”. Angel Aquino uses a vibrator on herself. There are actual penetration scenes in “Porno”, and soft porn sex scenes involving Althea with leading men Marki Stroem and Adrian Sebastian (who have “puwet” galore exposure) in “Amor y Muerte”.

But the biggest box office hit among the entries is not any of these sex movies but the entry of Gov. Vilma Santos, “Ekstra, The Bit Player”. She didn’t show anything but her acting talent and yet Gov. Vi proves she’s still a top box office drawer. At Trinoma, all the ticket sellers say all of “Ekstra’s” screenings this weekend are sold out in advance. Way to go, Ate Vi! This is not surprising as “Ekstra” is also the best movie she has done in years.

The Cinemalaya awards night will be held tonight and our best films are “Transit”, “Purok 7”, “Quick Change” (for New Breed Category), “Ekstra”, “Liars” (for Director’s Showcase). For best actor – Our bets are Alex Medina in “Babagwa”, Ping Medina in “Transit”, Mimi Juareza in “Quick Change”. For best actress – Eugene Domingo in “Instant Mommy”, Irma Adlawan in “Transit”, Lovi Poe in “Sana Dati” but the winner should be Vilma Santos in “Ekstra”. For supporting performances, the stand outs are the trannies in “Quick Change”, Jasmine Curtis Smith in “Transit”, Marlon Rivera, Ruby Ruiz, Cherie Gil and Tart Carlos in “Ekstra”, Benjamin Alves and TJ Trinidad in “Sana Dati”, Arnold Reyes in “Purok 7” and “Liars”, Alessandra de Rossi in “Liars” and the late Ama Quiambao in “Amor Y Muerte”. Special mention should be made of child stars Migs Cuaderno in “Purok 7” and “Quick Change”, Mark Justin Alvarez in “Transit” and John Michael Bunapos and John Harley Hicana in “Liars”.
