Lovi Poe On The Reported Snubbing Incident With Jake Cuenca

LOVI POE is surprised that the press is making a big thing out of her chance encounter with Jake Cuenca at the launch of Yes Magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful Stars. They reportedly snubbed each other, proving that they’ve really broken up.

“How can we break up? Never naman naging kami,” she says. “And we don’t snub each other. We’re friends. I didn’t even know he was there. Nasa isang dulo ako at nasa kabilang dulo naman siya, so hindi kami nagkita. But I’d have acknowledged him kung nakita ko siya.”

Lovi is glad that her GMA News TV Channel 11 show, “Titser”, has completed its taping and she can now devote all her time and attention to her new GMA-7 soap, “Sa Akin Pa Rin ang Bukas”. “Titser” will have a special behind the scenes primer tonight at 7:15.

“My role in teacher is the most difficult one I’ve ever portrayed so far. It’s no joke to be a teacher dahil ang hirap pala magturo. Sa scenes where I teach Math, I have to simplify the lessons para mas maintindihan ng mga estudyante ko. Ang layo rin ng location namin in Boso-Boso, so we’re required to walk long distances in very difficult circumstances. We even have to climb hills and cross rivers. And the bathroom on the set is so far away!”

Lovi plays Michelle, the smartest student in her high school class who dreams of teaching but has no means to go to college. Also in the cast are Mara Lopez as Lovi’s best friend and rival, Agot Isidro as their favorite teacher and Irma Adlawan as the evil principal everyone loves to hate. Kapuso actors Rocco Nacino, Mikael Daez, Carl Guevarra and Gardo Versoza play non-traditional love interests in the series. “Titser” bravely tackles issues in education like corruption, the lack of good teachers, the high dropout rate and the fact that 60% of the Philippine population has only reached high school level. The series was inspired by Sandra Aguinaldo’s I-Witness documentary, parts of which will be shown in the primer special.
