Ogie Alcasid Has Separated From Regine Velasquez

OGIE ALCASID is understandably tense these days. He’s hoping there’ll be no hitches in his 25th anniversary concert, “I Write the Songs”, at SM MOA Arena tomorrow night and all the 30 plus guests he personally invited will appear to help him entertain the audience of thousands who’ll watch this momentous event.

“I guarantee all the viewers they will have a good time dahil mahirap na uli mapagsama in just one concert and in one night ang special guest stars ko dito,” he says.

Right after the show, he’ll buckle down to work as head of the music department of his new home station, TV5. His first regular assignment with them is a musical show that will start in mid-September, hopefully with Sharon Cuneta also in it. Then he’ll do a drama series, “The Gift”, to be produced by Tony Tuviera who, like MVP, is also his “ninong” in his wedding to Regine Velasquez. Although he has left GMA-7, he wants to thank the Kapuso network for allowing him to promote their concert with them.

“Hindi na iba ang GMA sa akin kasi 18 years din ako with them. I didn’t burn my bridges with them kasi nga nagpaalam ako sa kanila nang maayos and with the blessings of Atty. Felipe Gozon ang paglipat ko. So maganda, hindi kami nagkaroon ng bad blood o samaan ng loob.”

But his wife Regine is staying with GMA-7, so we can say that they have now separated when it comes to their home studios. “Decision niya yun. Happy siya sa paglipat ko at happy naman ako sa pag-stay niya. We have different careers naman, so okay lang.”
