Megan Young Comes Full Circle As She Joins The 2013 Miss World Philippines Pageant On GMA-7

MEGAN YOUNG has come full circle. She started with GMA-7 in “Starstruck” then she moved to ABS-CBN, is currently seen in TV5’s “Misibis Bay” and now, she’ll be seen again on GMA-7 as a contestant in Miss World Philippines 2013 that also went back to GMA after last year’s telecast on TV5. The 26 candidates were launched officially at Solaire Resort & Casino and Megan is candidate no. 20.

She’s easily a standout, not only because she’s the most high profile among the candidates, she being in showbusiness, but she really has striking good looks and a tiny waistline that she displays in the two-piece swimwear they were made to wear in the presentation.

“I’m really so nervous,” she said. “Dream ko talagang sumali sa isang beauty pageant noon pa at marami nang nag-aalok sa akin, pero ngayon lang ako nagkalakas ng loob. It’s only now I felt that it’s the right time kasi 23 na ako and I’m about to graduate from college, so mas may confidence na rin ako. But I’m not really used to wearing a two-piece bikini. Sa ‘Misibis Bay’ nga, kahit nasa beach or poolside kami, naka-one piece lang ako or I’m wearing a sarong. This is a different kind of journey for me after I tried showbiz. Ipagdasal nyo namang magtagumpay ako rito, lalo na nga’t I have new shows offered to me pero tinanggihan ko muna to totally focus on this.”

The finals night will be held on August 18. Among the candidates are repeaters who have previously lost in the Bb. Pilipinas pageant, the recent Mutya ng Pilipinas and Miss Earth, and in last year’s Miss World Philippines. One of Megan’s advantages is that she is very articulate and we have no doubt she’ll do well in the question and answer portion. This year’s the Miss World pageant will be held not in China or London like in past years, but in Indonesia on September 28. In 2011, our representative, Gwen Ruais, was first runner up. We have yet to win the actual title. Here’s wishing Megan she’d be the lucky girl to bring home the first Miss World title.
