In “The Princess and I”, he figured in a love triangle with Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo. It was Daniel who got the girl. This time, he’s in conflict with Enchong Dee over Julia Montes.
“We’re hoping maging matindi rin yung chemistry naming tatlo para maka-relate ang viewers sa amin at mag-work ang aming love triangle. So far, maganda ang bonding naming tatlo sa taping. We’re doing this on location sa isang coconut farm in San Juan, Batangas, about four hours away from Manila, kaya we have enough time para magkuwentuhan, magkulitan. Enjoy naman kami with each other’s company so far. Nakasama ko na sila before sa movies, ‘The Reunion’ and ‘Strangers’, pero mas naging close kami rito. Wala nang ilangan at all.”
In “Muling Buksan ang Puso”, he play Francis de la Vega, the son of Agot Isidro who grew up in the U.S. and returns home to their hacienda with a heart ailment. Enchong and Julia are brother and sister, the kids of Cherie Gil, but there will be a twist in the story later.
Enrique is a hit with young girls because of his sexy dancing, making them swoon when he does his signature gyrations. “Buti naman at natutuwa sila kasi ako mismo, hindi ko alam before na okay ako magsayaw,” he says. “Nalaman ko lang when they told me to do Doogie. Mula noon, andaming tumatawag sa cellfone ko at itatanong lang ‘Why are you so hot?’. Ilang beses na nga akong nagpalit ng numbers, e.”
He’d rather be loveless now. “I don’t want to be distracted. Basta career muna ang focus ko ngayon. I’m helping my widowed mom in Cebu kaya sa family ko na lang muna ako.”
