Dingdong Dantes Says His Brit Co-Star In 'Dance Of The Steel Bars' Is So Impressed By Pinoys

DINGDONG DANTES said British actor Patrick Bergin was so amazed when he saw how Filipinos work so fast in shooting their movie “Dance of the Steel Bars” that opens in SM theatres tomorrow.

“Siya ang tumatayong narrator ng movie at gulat na gulat siya when he learned will try to finish all our scenes in the Cebu prison in just one week, kasi yun lang ang nakuha sa permit to film in that location na maximum security prison,” says Dingdong. “Sa Hollywood daw kasi, isang eksena lang, inaabot ng mahabang panahon para i-shoot. E, dito sa atin, paspasan at mabilis ang trabaho. Sabi nga raw nito sa director naming si Cesar Apolinario: Seven days! It’s a miracle!”

So how is it working with Patrick who played Julia Robert’s abusive husband in the movie “Sleeping with the Enemy”? “He’s okay, very friendly and coooperative. He talks even with the prisoners. Sa story, he’s a retired US fireman and philanthropist who gets wrongly accused of murder kaya nabilanggo dito sa Pilipinas. Ako naman, dance instructor na nabilanggo for frustrated murder. We’re both losing hope but para kaming nagkaroon ng father and son relationship. Mahirap din yung role niya kasi he’s put in a dilemma kung ipaglalaban ang principles niya or makikisama siya sa corrupt practices ng warden namin, played by Ricky Davao. He’s really good kaya masarap katrabaho.”
