Protegee Winner Jeric Gonzales Is Having Eating Disorders After Losing Weight

JERIC GONZALES, ‘Protegee’ winner, admitted he gained some unbecoming weight some months ago but he has since gotten rid of it so there’s no need for GMA management to issue him a Fat Memo. “Tinablan ako ng mga panlalait sa’kin na ang taba ko kaya, on my own, I got a personal trainer who designed a diet for me, mostly fibers, and gym workout,” he says. “Ngayon, dahil nasanay na yung tiyan ko sa diet that I have, when I eat other kinds of food, isinusuka ko na.”

We saw him at the “Love & Lies” farewell presscon and yes, he is noticeably lean and slim again. He’s paired with female ‘Protegee’ winner Thea Tolentino in both ‘Love & Lies’ and the Sunday youth show ‘Teen Gen’ that are both rating very well. Their love team is well received by fans but they both say it’s only on screen. “Wala pong ligawan sa’min sa ‘Teen Gen’. In ‘Love & Lies’, the story ends this week na kami ang magkakatuluyan. I play the brother of Michelle Madrigal in the story. May gusto ko talaga kay Thea pero ayaw niya kong patulan noong kasi housemaid lang namin siya.”

How would he assess his acting so far? “After ‘Love & Lies’, I want to go to an acting workshop kasi, although nag-improve na ang acting ko since ‘Protegee’, I can feel na kulang pa rin. Kasi sa confrontation scenes namin in ‘Love & Lies’, with Melissa de Leon as my mom, nakukulangan pa rin ako sa acting ko. Sila, focused na focused at ako, sabog pa. I want to improve some more. Isang kinalungkot ko is nang mawala ang ‘Party Pilipinas’. I’ve learned to love performing in that show. Ang hope ko lang, isama pa rin sana kami ni Thea doon sa bagong show na ipapalit dito na ‘Sunday All Stars’ daw ang title.”
