“Celebrity-oriented ang ‘Balikbayan’ kasi we take the guest celebrity to a trip to his own home province,” he says. “’Weekend Getaway’ naman is more of a game show where two guest stars have a contest doon sa aming binibisitang lugar. This time, ‘Biyahe ni Drew’ is ako lang, acting as the ultimate travel guide who asks my viewers to tag along while I visit beaches, caves, hot springs, and other beautiful places all over the country. For the first episodes, we are featuring the beauty of Iloilo, Sagada and Surigao del Sur.”
What are the five top places that he’d recommend to visit? “First is Batanes, because I went there with Yia (Villania, his girlfriend). Iba talaga ang Batanes and its unique and raw charm. Then Sagada which has a very different feel. Sarap. Ang lamig. Perfect for soul searching. Then I love Mindanao, so many beautiful places to see like Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro, and Bislig, which really surprised me with its enchanted river. It took six hours on zigzag roads going there from Davao, then another hour of rough roads to the river, but it’s worth it. The water is so blue, unbelievably beautiful, and the maya-mayas are so huge. I also like Bohol, na babalik-balikan mo talaga as it offers so much, and Tagaytay, na very accessible, andiyan lang.”
Drew is the 4th of five kids of the famous Atty. Aga. How does his dad like Yia? “He loves her. Tanggap na tanggap na niyang daughter ito.”
So when do they tie the knot since they’ve been on for 8 years? “Darating din tayo diyan. Basta papunta na kami diyan.”
