COCO MARTIN is really special to ABS-CBN as they hosted a solo presscon just for him at Luxent Hotel to launch his new show, “Juan de la Cruz”. How does it feel to be the network’s number one fair haired boy? “I’m really overwhelmed by their support, lalo na sa pagpili sa’kin as Juan de la Cruz as I feel I represent all of us here,” he says. “Big challenge sa’kin ang project na ito kasi for the first time, hindi lang ito basta drama kundi mag-a-action ako rito. Marami ring special effects kasi mga aswang ang kalaban ko and I use four special weapons against them: a sword, bullwhip, spear and bow and arrow. Akala ng iba, I underwent special training to learn how to handle them pero ang totoo, doon lang ako sa set na mismo nag-aral mag-espada, humawak ng latigo at iba pa. I’m glad maganda naman lumabas on screen. Pero hindi joke mag-fight scene. Mahirap pala. So I work out everyday to make sure physically fit ako sa action scenes ko na kung minsan, buong magdamag kinukunan kaya nakakapagod talaga. Bukod dito, may movie pa kong ‘A Moment in Time’ namin ni Julia Montes na ipapalabas na soon.”
Because of his being so busy, he has no time for love. “Wala talaga. Kung may girlfriend ako, hindi ko rin mapag-uukulan ng panahon. I take advantage muna of the opportunities na dumarating sa akin. Pag nawala na ito, saka na lang ang lovelife.”
